Beauty Contest Advice & Frequently Asked Questions

The UK Galaxy team want you to have a fantastic experience in the contest and so we have compiled some of the most asked questions and hope that it may give you some more information!

I have never competed in a beauty contest before, will I be at a disadvantage?

Absolutely NOT! The Galaxy team will be with you every step of the way, giving you tips on how to walk and pose. The competition is mostly about being yourself, we don't want to see you pretending to be something your not, being natural is a very important quality which the judges look for in a winner. You will be shocked at how much your confidence improves from being in the competition! Competing in the Miss Galaxy-UK and Miss Teen Galaxy-UK contest is a great opportunity for girls who are interested in starting out in the modelling industry!

Most girls in the UK are new to beauty and modelling contests and so most people will be feeling exactly the same as you! Over the last two years, there has been a massive increase in the popularity of beauty contests in the UK and this is a great way to kick start your career in the beauty and modelling world. International celebrities who started their career by entering beauty contests include Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Oprah Winfrey (award winning television talkshow host), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty), Sharon Stone (Hollywood actress), Raquel Welch, Danielle Lloyd (International Model), Liz Fuller (Model and TV presenter), Sarah Palin (US Vice president candidate), Leilani Dowling, Jakki Degg and Ulrika Johnsson to name a few!

I am not sure if I have the right look, what sort of winner are you looking for?

We do NOT have one set 'look' that we are searching for, Miss Galaxy-UK and Miss Teen Galaxy-UK celebrates the variety of different looks that a young girl and woman can have. It would not make for a very interesting competition if everybody looked the same! We want to see all sizes and ethnicities competing in this beauty contest!

Am I old enough to compete in one of the Galaxy modelling competitions?

Miss Teen Galaxy-UK is very unique in Britain as it offers ALL teenage girls the chance to compete for a title. This gives you a great chance to build your confidence at a younger age and make some great friends for life! If you are under the age of 17, a parent or legal guardian would be required to accompany you to the UK and International final. Please note, teen contestants must be aged between 13-18 at the time of the Miss Teen Galaxy International final in July, 2009.

Am I too old to compete in one of the Galaxy beauty contests?

Many UK beauty contests have quite low age restrictions but Miss Galaxy-UK allows all girls up to the age of 29 to compete in the contest. Please note, contestants must be aged between 19-29 at the time of the Miss Galaxy International final 2009 in July.
