An interview with Mrs Galaxy UK – Maegan Beaton!
Congratulations on becoming the new Mrs Galaxy UK! What was going through your mind when they announced you as the winner?
Thank you! Honestly? I was shocked! As it was my first time competing in the UK, I wasn’t expecting to win on my first try. I still feel as though I’m on a cloud when I wear my crown and banner. I’m so excited and thankful to be a part of the Galaxy family!
Out of the outfits you wore on stage, which was your favourite to compete in?
Now this is a tough question! I think my evening gown was my favourite to wear. I just felt so elegant and confident which are two important things to feel when competing!
Did it take you a long time to decide what to wear for the final?
Yes and no! I wanted to make sure my outfits were just right and portray my personality but I was lucky enough to find them all quite quickly! Giving me plenty of time to practice in them.
How do you prepare for a competition? Do you have a beauty regime?
Besides the fun bits like dress shopping and outfit planning, I prepare both physically by eating healthy and exercising and mentally by staying focused, confident, and keeping close to my faith for inspiration and motivation.
As far as a beauty regime is concerned, I definitely have one! I always make sure I stay hydrated with water, eating the right foods and staying away (as best I can!) from sugar – beauty radiates from the inside out! Although it can be cumbersome at times, I make sure I take my makeup off every night with skincare products that work best with my skin (stay away from just using makeup wipes, girls!), use sunscreen, and try and stay stress free.
What advice would you give to women who are thinking about entering a pageant for the first time?
Why not?! You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain by entering pageants. I started competing when I was 10 years-old and at that age, I was very shy and reserved. If it weren’t for pageants, I wouldn’t be able to stand in front of a crowd and give a speech or be successful in job interviews. If it’s a goal that you have set for yourself, never let anything hold you back from achieving it!
You are originally from America, are you excited to be going back to your home country in just a couple months time!?
Yes I am! It will be nice to have my family and friends around to support and cheer me on. I’m also excited to have real Mexican food so I’m currently Googling the best Mexican restaurants in the entire Orlando area to enjoy all week!
You have competed in pageant systems in both America and now the UK! How do British pageants compare to American ones?
Pageants in the UK are definitely a lot smaller than back home. Not a lot of people know about them!
What do you miss most about living in America?
My family and friends. We’re all really close so it’s tough to be so far away from them, but they love coming to visit! Also, as I mentioned previously, I have a love for Mexican food so I’m missing my favourite restaurants from back home! And Sephora.. we can’t forget that, can we?!
How do you spend your free time? What do you do for fun?
I love spending time hanging out with my husband. He’s one of my biggest supporters in life and I love him dearly! We recently adopted a Whippet puppy named Franklin so we enjoy taking him out for walks and all of the joys that come along with being a puppy parent. In my own spare time, I love to cook, read, and catch up on whatever I’m watching on Netflix. And as a makeup artist for Bobbi Brown, I also love experimenting with new looks and makeup shopping!
How are you preparing for the international finals? What is the most challenging aspect?
I’ve started a 12-week healthy eating and exercise program to get me into top shape for finals as well as practising for each competition whenever I get a chance!
Congratulations again Maegan! Best of luck for America!
