Merry Christmas from Miss Teen Galaxy Wales, Leah Andrews!
Our beautiful Miss Teen Galaxy Wales, Leah Andrews, would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
‘This time last year was an extremely exciting period for me, not only because Christmas is my favourite time of year but because of all my preparations leading up to the UK Galaxy finals. Christmas is that time of year that is filled with love, happiness and unity and fortunately enough for me it was made even more special by a little purple sash. Yes, I was stood where you are standing and the nerves and excitement was very real. I’d wake up dreaming about Galaxy and fall asleep dreaming about Galaxy, it became my passion. So believe me when I say I can completely appreciate and relate to how you are all feeling at this present time and I promise you that your hard work and devotion to this system will all be worth it when you are stood on that sparkling Galaxy stage, representing your towns and cities.
Although you may not all celebrate Christmas, I encourage you all to take this time of year to be merry, thankful and appreciate all that you have achieved. For those of you that do celebrate Christmas, spread Christmas cheer wherever you go, sing songs and decorate your homes because before you know it, Christmas will be over and Galaxy will be here. I spent the November and December period of 2015 making lots of appearances up and down the country, turning on Christmas lights, hosting charity events and meeting lots of Santa’s elves. I dedicated a lot of my time and energy to making donations to children’s hospices and homeless shelters throughout the UK, aiming to shine a little light and happiness into the lives of those less fortunate than myself. This time of year is a time for giving and if you have the opportunity to do so, I would highly recommend it. Here at Galaxy we even have the #GalaxyAppeal and it would not only mean the world to us and those it would help if you could take part in our campaign, but it would make a great appearance opportunity too.
Galaxy girls, I cannot stress enough how quickly time will fly, especially once Christmas passes, so in the midst of the madness ensure you are correctly preparing for the finals. I know exactly how you are all feeling and the anticipation is all part of the fun but being organised and ready will take away any unnecessary nerves. During the lead up, it was important to me that I devoted my time into making appearances and promoting my title as much as possible. You all have this wonderful opportunity to represent your towns and cities, so ensure you make the most of your titles and get out into your community. Spend time perfecting your routines while you can and aim to get feedback and advice from any of the Galaxy Team. I promise we won’t bite and will help as much as we possibly can, we have all been in your position before. Relax, have fun and take your time to make lots of new friends, that is one of the most wonderful opportunities that this pageant brings, so embrace it.
I cannot believe that there is only a short few months until I hand my title over to the next lucky girl, who will have the best year of her life. Still to this day I feel incredibly blessed and privileged to call myself Miss Teen Galaxy Wales and to have had all of the opportunities that I have had. Since being a part of this remarkable system I have made over 220 appearances and I have loved each one with all of my heart. Visiting schools, charitable organisations, balls, galas and judging pageants, I am thankful for each public appearance I have been invited to. My favourite two appearances have been visiting the Dreams and Wishes ward at Neath hospital for seriously ill children and hosting one of the most popular festivals in South Wales. I have also been able to host one of the biggest pageant events of the year, ‘The Galaxy Summer Ball’ at the second largest castle in Great Britain, Caerphilly Castle. In the two years I have been a part of the Galaxy System I have managed to raise just under 10K for various charities, including; The Christie, Dreams & Wishes, Wildlife Warriors, Cancer Research and many, many more. I have done all of this while being in full time education, a part time model, an ambassador for two charities and owning/running two full time businesses. So believe me, if I can do it then so can you!
Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything,
Love, your Miss Teen Galaxy Wales – Leah Andrews
